Being able to speak well is important than being able to write well?

An Essay from this page

In my opinion being able to speak well is surely more important than being to write well. I will clarify my thoughts in the following manner.

Firstly, I think speech is a faster and more appealing kind of communication.
You can reach and touch the mind and hearts of people so fast. When people listen carefully they surely try to act upon what you want to convey.
Nonetheless, listeners will at-least give a thought.

Secondly, when you talk or express something you are bound to be true. Since there are people listening right in front of you, I think it becomes quite obligatory to speak what we feel. That makes you sound confident and truthful. Also speaking has an added advantage of interacting and discussing with your audience or group. It definitely helps to state your opinions more successfully.

Thirdly, speaking is one of the best way of expressing effectively. There are so many people who are busy and don't get time to read books or newspapers. What do they do? Tune on radios or television and get the news in the fastest possible way. Also, a particular strata of people are never into reading. Such kind of people can be educated and influenced by thoughts only by talking to them. They might not understand written information and instead misconstrue the writer. This happens many times. So, in such a case speaking surely overcomes all barriers.

History has showed us that good orators have always been remembered. They have had immense power in their voice and thoughts. They were able to drive people's mind.
But they may not be surely, good writers. What's more important is they spoke so effectively that people were mesmerized, enthralled and driven by their thoughts and theories. There are some people who are so good at speaking that even if asked they are given a topic on the spot they can think and start talking.
But when told to write down they may fumble and take hours to do so.
All in all, I think an individual can express his thoughts more effectively and correctly by talking rather than writing. Hence its important to be able to speak well rather than to write well.
